New Mexico Summer Enrichment Internship Program

Shape New Mexico’s Future Workforce—Without the Financial Burden.

New Mexico’s economy runs on local talent. We make it possible for you to invest in the next generation of workers without taking on the financial risk or administrative burden. Education at Work (E@W), in partnership with the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED), connects you with motivated high school interns ready to learn your industry.

You provide the professional environment; we provide the funding and infrastructure.

The Partnership Explained

A clear division of roles to ensure mutual success.

YOU PROVIDE

  • The Mentorship: A supportive environment for a student to learn professional norms.
  • The Opportunity: Entry-level tasks and a “seat at the table” for a local student.
  • The Guidance: Your expertise to help shape a young person’s work ethic.

WE PROVIDE

  • The Funding: 100% of student wages and payroll costs covered by state grant funding.
  • The Protection: Full insurance and liability coverage (E@W is the Employer of Record).
  • The Admin: All onboarding, compliance, and weekly timekeeping handled for you.
New Mexico Summer Enrichment Internship Program

The E@W Advantage: Managed Talent

Unlike traditional programs, we don’t simply place a student and walk away. Our model is built for student growth.

  • Employability Training: Students complete professional readiness training before their start date, and this continues throughout the summer.
  • Dedicated Oversight: An Internship Coordinator conducts weekly check-ins to monitor performance and professionalism. They are your first line of support!
  • Ongoing Development: Interns spend 14 hours at your worksite and 6 hours with us each week exploring career pathways and learning the durable skills needed for future success. Students will work on a capstone project to present at the end of the summer.

Program Snapshot: Summer 2026

  • Timeline: 8 Weeks (June – July)

  • Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week. 14 weeks on the job, 6 weeks of skill building, career exploration, and teamwork on their capstone project.
